What is the office you are running for?

Conroe ISD School Board

What are three reasons why you think you are the best candidate running for this Board position?

I founded SEPAC before I even joined the board because I believed parents needed a real place for their voices to be heard. Once elected, I didn't just leave it as an outside group, I worked to make it a permanent partnership with the district, so that parent voice is built into how Conroe ISD operates going forward, not dependent on any one person being in office. My values align with what this community wants for its kids. That means keeping them safe, and not just physically safe, but protected from outside agendas that try to work their way into our classrooms. Parents trust me because I've shown, through my own choices on the board, that I will hold that line....

What are the three biggest challenges facing the board and how would you address these challenges if you are elected to the Board?

The district faces growing federal and state requirements that come without the funding to match, forcing the district to pull dollars from other areas of the budget just to stay compliant. I plan to participate in the 2027 legislative session to work directly with our legislators, bringing awareness to these funding gaps and proposing real solutions to alleviate the burden on the district. As new curriculum rolls out, we need to make sure teachers are genuinely prepared and supported to deliver it, not just handed new materials. Right now, several schools are showing a decline in reading and math performance growth, and that's unacceptable. I've already been working with the district to establish implementation metrics and monitoring systems, and I'll continue pushing for district-wide standards that apply consistently across all curriculum deployments, so we know quickly whether implementation is working....

Would you actively pursue an annual third party financial audit of the ISD?

Yes. I would not only actively pursue this, I would push for it to become standard practice for the district. This is a best practice in corporate America, and taxpayers deserve the same level of financial accountability and transparency from their school district that shareholders expect from any well-run organization.

What do you believe is parents’ roles in their children’s education?

Parents are the primary decision-makers in their children's education, the district's role is to support that, not override it. Parents and children are the primary stakeholders of this district, and when a parent speaks, the district must listen. Parents should have full visibility into curriculum, materials, and their child's records, and a real voice when they have concerns.

What's your opinion of programs such as Common Core curriculum? Critical Race Theory? Social Emotional Learning? International Bacculaureate?

My position comes down to one core belief: schools should focus on primary educational content and materials, the fundamentals of reading, writing, math, and core academics. Programs and frameworks that introduce ideological concepts, values, or belief systems go beyond that core mission. Those are areas that belong with parents to review and address with their own children, not something schools should be embedding into the school day.

Did you vote FOR the 2023 $2 Billion CISD School Bond? Why or why not?

Yes, I voted for the 2023 bond. At the time, I believed what the district presented about the need for it, and as a parent, I wanted to support our schools and make sure my own kids, and every child in this district, had what they needed. I made that decision the way most parents do: trusting the information we were given and voting with our kids' best interests in mind.

Do you believe the school board should be able to remove sexually explicit material from libraries and classrooms?

Yes, I believe the school board should have the authority to remove inappropriate material from our schools and libraries. SB 13 gives boards that authority and responsibility, and I fully support using it. Protecting children from content that isn't appropriate for them doesn't belong in our schools. Parents ultimately have the right to provide their children with the books and materials at home that align with their family's values and beliefs, that's a decision for the home, not the classroom.

Will you work to remove harmful materials as defined in Texas penal code 43.24 from all school property? Additionally, do you support removing the “educational exemption” from this law?

Yes, I will work to remove harmful materials, as defined under Penal Code 43.24, from all CISD property. On the educational exemption specifically, I don't believe it should be eliminated outright, since that could unintentionally sweep up legitimate curriculum, health content, and literature that serves a real educational purpose. That said, removing the exemption entirely is a state-level legislative decision, not something the board controls directly. What we can and should do as trustees is enforce strong local policy that closes any loophole being used to let genuinely inappropriate content into our classrooms under the guise of curriculum. Protecting kids doesn't require throwing out the exemption, it requires the board actually doing its job to enforce it properly.

The CISD geographical didn’t meet the forecasts by the previous Superintendents projections, likely causing a deficit in the budget. How do you plan to fix it?

I'd point out that our current budget strain isn't primarily driven by enrollment growth falling short, that's a real risk on the horizon, since slowing enrollment could push us into a lower state funding tier as soon as 2027-2028, but it's not the biggest driver of today's budget pressure. The biggest impact right now is our debt service shortfall, projected at $6.2 million, which stems in large part from overestimated property appraisal values. The Superintendent is already working to refinance our bond debt this fall, which I support, and I'd expect that to help offset the shortfall. Beyond that, I'd push for tighter scrutiny before the board approves any new debt going forward, so future projections are grounded in realistic appraisal and growth assumptions, not best-case estimates that leave us short later.

The State of Texas has passed laws banning the social transitioning of children in schools. Will you enforce this law as a member of the board and protect students from woke gender ideology?

Yes, I will uphold and enforce Texas law as a board member.

Do you support allowing all students to use bathrooms, showers and locker rooms, as well as participate in sports, based on the gender with which they identify, not the sex they are assigned to at birth? Please explain.

No. As a mom of student athletes in this district myself, I am absolutely in support of following the law and our board policy, which reserves these facilities and athletic participation based on biological sex, not gender identity.

Do you believe there are two genders? If not, how many are there?

Yes. I believe in how our Creator made us, men and women. That's the foundation I stand on, both personally and as a board member.

What is your position on implementing a gender fluidity policy to remove all gender subject matter books & materials from CISD?

My position is the same one I hold on inappropriate materials broadly: schools should focus on core academics, not ideological content, and any materials that don't belong in a K-12 setting under the law, SB 13 gives the board and parents that authority, should be removed. That standard applies consistently across all materials, not just this category specifically.

Do you believe a teacher should be required to use a student’s preferred pronoun?

No. Under Texas Education Code § 11.401, school districts are prohibited from assisting a student's social transitioning, which includes the use of a different name or pronoun that denies a student's biological sex at birth. Teachers should not be required to use a preferred pronoun that conflicts with a student's biological sex, and I would uphold this standard as a board member.

Should the SBOE have total & final authority on what teaching materials are used in the classroom? Please explain fully.

No, I don't believe the SBOE should have total and final authority. I support the SBOE setting strong minimum standards and vetting instructional materials at the state level, that provides an important statewide safeguard. But final say over what's actually implemented in our classrooms should remain with the local board. Local trustees are the ones directly accountable to Conroe ISD parents, and we're in the best position to respond to our own community's specific needs and concerns. Local control is a core conservative principle, and that shouldn't stop at the schoolhouse door just because the topic is curriculum.

How much access do you believe parents should have to their children's curriculum? classroom? teacher? online?

Full and immediate access. Parents should be able to view curriculum, classroom materials, and the online platforms their children use at any time, without having to file a formal request. This isn't just about transparency, it's essential for families to be able to work directly with their children at home and understand what they're learning in class, so parents can actually reinforce and support that learning rather than being left in the dark.

The Supreme Court of the United States recently ruled that states may ban boys from participating in girls’ sports. How will you protect female students as a member of the school board?

As a mom of student athletes in this district myself, protecting my daughters and all female athletes is of utmost priority for me. I will support and enforce policies that reserve girls' sports and facilities for biological females, consistent with this ruling, Texas law, and our board policies.

Would you, individually, take public, overt steps to have pornography removed from CISD classrooms. libraries and campuses?

Yes. As I've said throughout, I believe the school board has both the authority and responsibility to remove inappropriate material from our schools and libraries, and SB 13 gives us that authority. Protecting children from content that isn't appropriate for them doesn't belong in our schools, and I would take that stand publicly and directly, not just support it quietly from the board table.

Are you now or have you ever done business with CISD or a CISD official?

No, I have not done business with CISD or a CISD official.

What curricula and/or subjects do you think should be prioritized in setting up every Conroe ISD student for future success?

Core academics, reading, math, and science fundamentals, remain the foundation. Beyond that, I believe CTE pathways should be something every student is encouraged to participate in, or at the very least understand the options available to them, so they see a clear path forward whether that's college or a skilled trade. Financial literacy is essential as well; students need to leave our district knowing how to manage money in the real world. In my own household, we also believe strongly in extracurricular involvement, whether that's sports, band, FFA, or other activities, because it builds discipline, resilience, a sense of community, and a real understanding of what hard work looks like in practice. I'd want to see the district continue supporting and encouraging that kind of well-rounded development for every student, not just academics in isolation.

Would you be in favor of returning the pledge of allegiance to the American flag each morning in the public schools?

Yes, I would love to see this return. I remember the Pledge being part of my own education, and it saddens me that it's no longer a consistent part of the school day for our kids. It's a small moment each morning that instills respect and unity, and I believe our students deserve that same tradition.

Do you believe the Bible should be returned to the public school library? How would you implement that?

Yes, I believe the Bible should be available to students in our public school libraries. I would ensure the law is followed, as I've mentioned regarding instructional and library materials throughout this questionnaire, so it's accessible on library shelves like any other appropriate text.
