“The rumblings that Ted Cruz was damaged by his presidential campaign were overstated,” said Jim Henson, head of the Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas at Austin.

While claiming to be for school choice and greater local control, the Cruz/HSLDA amendment to expand 529 for homeschool expenses, with federal strings attached, was stricken from the final bill after it was determined that it ran afoul of Senate rules.
