Pro:

  • Criminal prosecutor In MoCo and in other counties - and reportedly a very good one at that.
  • The 284th is only doing civil cases.  That could change with a change of judge.  Her extensive criminal jury trial experience transfers well into civil trial realm even though different standards of proof are used and there are variations in the rules of evidence.
  • Board Certified in Criminal(not Civil) Law

Con:

  • Did Not Respond to questionnaire
  • Very little CIVIL experience.  The 284th hears civil lawsuits between businesses and individuals, as well as property tax cases.
  • She has tried many criminal jury trials.  However, as of right now, this court has voluntarily shifted its criminal case load to the other courts
  • Had to correct her opponent in debates
    • The first correction was in EF Debate (1/4/18), when Ms. Linzer said the court's minimum amount by statute was $200K.  Ms Bayes corrected her by saying the actual amount is only $500. (see 24.007b)
    • At a Libery Belles forum on 1/11/18, in Panorama Village, Ms. Linzer made another faux pas and said the County Auditors position was created by the Texas Constitution.  Once again, Ms. Bays had to correct her, saying the Auditors office is created under Local Government Code.
  • As the acting District Attorney, Mrs. Linzer had opportunity to follow up on lingering issues within the Grimes County District Attorneys office, including an open complaint with the DA's office alleging misconduct and state law violations by the Grimes County sheriff's office.
  • There is also a related request for a Grand Jury investigation that has, apparently, been ignored by the county and by the DA's office.  Mrs. Linzer was asked about these issues and, after multiple attempts at contacting her, did acknowledge the issue.  Mrs. Linzer was ADA for a short time and a permanant DA has been appointed.
