Pros
- 50 yrs experience in position
- In place when county/country went from Democrat(which he was) to GOP
- Has grown party in line w/national growth
- Probably more conservative early on, but has not progressed.
- Constitutionalist - supporter of 1st & 2nd ammendment
Cons
- Former Democrat - converted to the GOP in 1963
- Seated 3 Precinct Chairs (29, 33 and 58) w/out CEC Approval. MCRP Violation Article III, Sect. 4; also TX Election Code Violation). Title 10, SubTitle B, Chapter 171, Sub. B, Sec. 171.024
- Candidate Committee Chair of moderate/left Associated Republicans of Texas. - a PAC that works w/and supports Joe Straus . Wilkerson recruited Jackie Waters to run against and defeat principled conservative Steve Toth.
- Has attempted to stifle attempts by conservatives by attempting to gavel meetings closed before key, taxpayer votes(Homestead Exemption, Straus Resolution and Toll Road Referendum) at Exec. Committee meetings
- Attacked several Pct. Chairs who asked questions during a candidate forum on Jan 25th, 2018, sponsored by Eagle Forum.
- Did not embrace (principled conservative) Chairman Dickey's STAT program - saying "many people in party didn't support the platform".
- Showed Favoritism in Montgomery County Judge Race
- Feels there's no one else in county that can do his job(see interview)
- Failure to have a succession plan
- Whiile he claims to like tea party principles, he often hides behind unity or "policy" to not stand-up for/against certain candidates/issues
- Is not using technology to fullest extent (a national GOP issue, which allowed Obama to win presidency twice)
- Has installed Precinct Chairs w/out consent of Co. Exec. Committee(maybe illegally)
- Overemphasis on party unity at the expense of openess, values and principles regarding candidates and issues
- Willingness to accept anyone into Republican Party who's still hanging onto democratic principles
- Not an adherent as a part of the 10th amendment
- Too much power as county chair, known as King Wally.
- (Oct. 10th) Wilkerson forms new political party but shhhhhh! It’s a secret: please don’t tell anyone who the officers of The Montgomery County Republican Party of Texas are
