Pros
- Dedicated professional of 19 yrs in position.
- Knows the constitutional provision for his department is for Process Serving and has, by and large, stuck to that.
- Very cognizant about not growing his department beyond process serving, except for a position or two, saving the taxpayer money.
- Comfortable with the current operation and expects that office will continue to run smoothly without substantial changes.
- Not part of the establishment
Cons
- Staying on largely as a favor to other friends/employees who are also nearing retirement. Basically, a short timer whether now or next election
- Overstaffed to accomplish their constitutional duties. Has too many supervisors. Over the years has grown a bureaucracy.
- We elected a countywide Sheriff to do policing. The constables' office needs to focus on servicing the needs of the courts.
- Only needs a staff of 6 to 7 instead of the 18 employees he has now to accomplish the constitutional duties. This is one reason why our county taxes are double other peer counties.
- We need to transfer these excessive employees to the Sheriff and allow him consolidate these redundant functions and gain efficiencies.
- Ineffective in resolving significant communication issues with the Conroe City Police Department.
