General

Please describe what you believe are the most significant issues in this race, why and what you'll do to address them?

The issues in this race are the same issues that have been around for a long time. They are:

  1. Which is more trustworthy, centralized government power or de-centralized private citizen power / liberty?
  2. Closely related to this ... is that power serving self or God and others?
  3. The Texas GOP 2018 platform has many great planks that will immprove our government (local, state, and federal).
  4. I also believe part of the problem is human nature's committment to be self serving (not to be involved [if you are reading this, then you do not have this problem, but our culture does suffer with this problem]) and not seeking wisdom and truth (studying what type of self government works for large societies. There are a lot of "the world is flat" thinking that we need to fix.
  5. There has been a recent "dust up" of "in party bickering", but this "bickering or difference of opinion" has been going on for hundreds of years. It is nothing new. I am glad the conservative, small government, pro platform "side" has been able to "take the helm". I pray that we lead well and with humbleness. It can get messy when the apple cart gets turned over and feelings can get bruised, but keep the big picture in view.

Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

2018 Texas Platform ...

Preamble - I completely agree.

Principles - With one exception, I completely agree and point out that our relationship with God, family and church is the foundation to all the others. My disagreement is with #4 regarding the Texas Constution which for many years gets amended every 2 years with big government solutions that erode the good principles listed in #1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10.

Business, Commerce, and Transportation - I believe that 51.5 is not consistent with Core Principles 4,5&6 so I favor private verses government solutions. I agree with the rest of this section.

Constitutional Issues - I agree with all and I give two stars to #55.

Criminal and Civil Justice - I don't think that #169 will work. Since I believe that spending needs to decrease, #162 implies an acceptance of 2.5% spending increase per year, without much of effort. I agree with the rest and give two stars to #121.

Government & Foreign affairs - I agree with all and give two stars to #214.

National Defense and Border Security - I agree with all.

State Affairs - I agree with all.

God is God, he loves us more than we understand and he knows how we should live, small government, liberty belongs to the people, government does need to regulate how big our toilet is or what foods we eat or what kind of light bulb we put in our homes or businesses, the US is not the police of the world.

What differentiates you from your opponents?

I am not aware of my opponent's views so I am not answer.

What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1.        Republican
2.        Grassroots
3.        Conservative
4.        Tea Party

These can be very overlapping circles. Republican is the one group that has lots of area not shared with the others. If you make me pick one, it is a tossup between tea party and conservative.

Please list 3 federal agencies that are popular in our culture and should be abolished

I would have put the IRS but that is not popular.

FDA - Food & Drug Administration

USDE - US Department of Energy

USDA - US Department of Agriculture

USDE - US Department of Education

I gave a 4th just in case one of them was not considered popular.

Should Texas GOP limit their elected officials to 8 years or less from the same office, even though it will force some good candidates to leave an office?

Yes

When you leave office what accomplishment/s do you want to be your hallmark, your legacy, and why?

Smaller government

More liberty for Texans

Voters who understand government very well, especially local and state

People loving God and others more

People realizing that they get the liberty they deserve

Taxes

What form of federal tax law do you support (e.g., current, flat tax, fair tax, other) and why?

I have said for a long time I am less concerned with the method taken as with the amount taken.

I also have the view that everytime the system is changed there are many unintended consequences. So the fewer the changes, the better.

Cut back the runaway spending first and this problem will fix itself.

A couple of years ago, a resolution was put forth by MoCo GOP to institute a 20% Homestead Exemption.  Did you support or oppose this and why?

I support the 20% Ecemption

I also support lower county spending

I believe that God intended charity to be the responsibility of the church, not government.

2nd Amendment - guns

Do you believe the Second Amendment grants an individual right or a militia right?

Individuals are granted the right to protect their persons and property

I view a militia as a voluntary, non government entity

10th Amendment

Please explain your interpretation of the Tenth Amendment and the principle of nullification. Do states have a right of nullification? What should the federal government do if a state attempts nullification?

The 10th amendment says that only the powers in the constitution are given to the "united states of america" and all others are reserved to Texas or the people.

When the us supreme court renders and opinion... the State of Texas should have a agreed upon method to decide if they agree with it or not, and act accordingly. Kicking the can down the road can really hurt sometimes. Roe v Wade is a great example.

Other civil liberty

Do you support or oppose federal funding for Planned Parenthood and other agencies that perform abortions, both in the U.S. and abroad (even if they use money derived from other sources)?

I oppose federal, state, or local funding of Planned Parenthood and other agencies that perform abortions.

With the exception of saving the life of the mother, I view abortion as unjustly taking a valuable innocent life.

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, birth, 5 days old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

From conception to natural death

Education

Do you support or oppose allowing parents direct the flow of federal education funds (e.g., to their school or home school of choice)? Support? Oppose? Please explain.

God gave children to parents and not to the state

I support parents rights over their own children

Ethics

Do you agree with precinct chairs involvement in republican primaries? Why or why not?

When a person serves as precinct chair, they do not give up their values or ability to speak.

As I have learned more, I have continued to "improve" my understanding about what a good government looks like.

I have spoken in many primaries, and will continue to do so. Many people appreciate my efforts to serve in this way.

My desire is to, "act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with [my] God". I fail at this many times, but I keep on getting back up and trying again.

What's your impression of GOP Speaker Dennis Bonnen after he was caught offering a Quid Pro Quo to Empower Texans Michael Quinn Sullivan?  Should Speaker Bonnen resign?  Should he suffer legal ramifications for his action/s?

What Bonnen did is wrong.

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcys?

No

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

  1. Remove government handouts provided to illegals
  2. Build the fence

Amnesty comes in many forms.  What's your view as it pertains to Texas?

Mexico lost Texas back in 1820-1845 due to immigration. Texas is in the process of losing Texas because of US and Texas immigration policies. Amnesty will not fix the problem, but make it worse.

Transportation

Do you support or oppose the referendum passed by both the MoCo GOP Executive Committee and SREC to allow voters, at the statewide level, to decide in the voting booth whether or not they want a particular toll road?  Why or why not?

I support voters are frustrated with the lies and abuses of government toll roads, let them vote, it is the voter's money.

Did you take a public position on the May 9, 2015 Road Bond, and if so, what was it? And in a few sentences, explain why.

I recommended voters to vote down to May 9th road bond. A bond is another word for mortgage or debt.

The county should not have needed to borrow money for roads, if they had wisely managed resources, they would be able to pay for roads as needed. Why do we spend money on optional things that causes us to go into debt for necessary items.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

It depends on the context.

I am ...

  1. pro life
  2. for much smaller government power/cost/spending
  3. for stopping the government spending fedish
  4. pro individual liberty
  5. for the church (with it's many faults) stepping back into the provider of public charity and training leaders for service in the public sector

Local, state, federal government needs to refrain from ...

  1. taking so much of our money. God can live on much less than our current governments
  2. telling us what we can eat
  3. dictating the size of our "contribution to society"
  4. dictating the size of our toilets or the light bulbs we use
  5. what wages we should get paid
  6. dictating our retirement plan
  7. telling us what type of health insurance we need
  8. etc

Do you support the Montgomery County Republican Party By-Laws as adopted by the CEC on 6/26/18?  And if not, why not?

I supported the 2018 bylaw changes, because I believe distributed power is better than centralized power, and the county chairman had accumulated too much power, and was using that power to support his political values.
