Pros

  • Very experienced precinct chair and heir-apparent to Dr. Wally Wilkerson
  • Experinced Senatorial (SD4) Convention Chair

Cons

  • Voted against the conservative-sponsored 20% Homestead Exemption Resolution that was introduced in February of 2017
  • Voted against conservative-sponsored resolution for the CEC to send recommendation to the Parole Board on behalf of Adrian Heath
  • Voted against the conservative-sponsored resolution to admonish progressive/liberal GOP House Speaker Joe Straus.  Fifty other Counties did the same, w/a resolution against Straus.
  • Was the sole vote (out of 35) against the conservative-sponsored "Toll Road" Referendum, giving the people a choice at the polls, in a non-binding resoltuion, as to whether they want a toll road in their county.  The referendum is now on the ballot statewide, thanks to SD3 SREC chair Terry Holcombe.

Questionnaire

General

This is a Republican primary race.  Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform?  And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

Yes

Do you support current RPT chair James Dickey in full and if not, what do you disagree with?

Yes

Did you support liberal Texas house-speaker Joe Straus?  Why or why not?

Republican House members should select the next Speaker.

Please describe what you believe are the most significant issues in this race, why and what you'll do to address them?

The next Precinct 40 Chairman should be willing to work hard for the Republican Party to elect Republicans at all levels and to support the local Party's efforts- including GOTV, fund raising, organization, outreach, etc.   I have a track record of doing just that in my precinct and for the MCRP as a whole.

Which supreme court cases should Texas just ignore?

None.

There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.

I support a shorter, more concise platform.

As a Republican, if you had to give up one of the following core principles, which one would you select first and why?
a. pro-life;
b. 10% reduction in state, fed, local spending;
c. 2nd amendment;
d. illegal immigration;
e. foreign bases;
f.  10th amendment

All are very important.  I would never give up on pro-life!  If I had to choose one of these I would choose to reduce spending as much as possible, but not hold out for 10%. Difficult choices!

For what offices should term limits be implemented?

Undecided.

What distinguishes you from your opponent?

I do not know my oppenent, so it is difficult to answer this one.  However, I believe my record as a conservative Republican, working hard to represent the people of my precinct, supporting the activities and purposes of the MCRP, supporting local, state and national candidates, and promoting conservative principles, qualifies me to continue to serve in this office.

Please list 3 federal agencies that are popular in our culture and should be abolished

Education

IRS

EPA

Are the United States and Texas constitutions living documents?  Please answer in the context of Progressivism versus Originalism.

Not living documents and should be interpreted strictly as written.

Taxes

What form of federal tax law do you support and why (e.g., current, flat tax, fair tax, other)?

I support a flat tax.

2nd Amendment - guns

Do you believe the Second Amendment grants an individual right or a militia right?

It is an individual right.

10th Amendment

Please explain your interpretation of the Tenth Amendment and the principle of nullification. Do states have a right of nullification? What should the federal government do if a state attempts nullification?

I believe in Federalism. More rights should be returned to the States.  I believe nullification will be decided on a case-by-case basis by the courts.  This is why court appointees are so importanat!

Other civil liberty

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, 13 weeks of gestation, birth, 5 days old, 18 years old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

Conception!

I have a strong Pro-Life record that I will match against any opponent.  Roe v Wade must be overturned.  In the meantime, I will support any Pro-Life legislation in the Texas Legislaturs and will support Pro-Life efforts financially.

Do you support or oppose federal funding for Planned Parenthood and other agencies that perform abortions, both in the U.S. and abroad (even if they use money derived from other sources)?

Oppose!

Education

Do you support or oppose allowing parents direct the flow of federal education funds (e.g., to their school or home school of choice)? Support? Oppose? Please explain.

Support.

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

It all starts with border security.  That has to be accomplished first or all else fails.

Transportation

Do you support or oppose the referendum passed by both the MoCo GOP Executive Committee and SREC to allow voters, at the statewide level, to decide in the voting booth whether or not they want a particular toll road?  Why or why not?

Support.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

This is my view of conservatism-

Ronald Reagan referred to the three-legged stool of conservatism:

1. Economic conservatism- limited government, fiscal resposibility, reduce taxes, reduce regulation, free markets

2. Social conservatism- Pro-Life, pro traditional marriage, freedom to express religion in public places, strengthen the family unit

3. National defense- strong military, secure borders, maintain our status as a global leader (not a follower!)
