What are the three main reasons you are running for this office? Do you see any potential conflicts of interest?

I have been a certified peace officer for approximately 16 years. I currently hold a master peace officer certification and numerous instructor certifications. I have been on SWAT for over 15 years and assigned to the County's fulltime team for the last 9 years as a team leader and trainer. I have helped train and prepare local and federal officers in various areas of law enforcement. I am also the Dignitary detail lead that has 25 deputies assigned to the unit. I am one of the leading Active Shooter trainers in Montgomery County. I have lead and dealt with various high threat situations in and around Montgomery County. As well has having extensive training in every aspect of law enforcement I hold an undergrad degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, as well as a Graduate degree in Security Management. As you can see I have focused in all aspects of improving myself as an officer which in return provides the citizens the best officer possible. The Sheriff’s office has entrusted me with leading several programs the county officers. Many have asked why I have never formally promoted, the reason is that I feel I can have the biggest impact leading many of the programs I’m currently tasked with. If I were to promote I would be required to transfer out of SWAT and lose my position as team leader, teacher and trainer.

Please describe what you believe are the most significant issues in this race, why and what you'll do to address them?

The most significant issues effecting our race is the need to expand the agency to a fulltime responding law enforcment agency. This leaves the Sheriff's office as the only responding agency in the precinct. Having a 24 hour agency will benifit the citizens of Montgomery County.

What is your position on the public's right to record police or other government officials on public property?

I have had a situation where I was recorded by an individual that was recording private property from the public roadway. I don't have an issue with this as long as the individual is up front on who he is and what he is doing. I questioned him and he attempted to hide what he was doing and tried to mislead me by speaking German. I identified myself as soon as he asked who I was but he did not and continued to be evasive. No legal action was taken once it was determined that he was not a threat. The individual was allowed to continue to record and was allowed to leave as soon as he wanted to. As for recording the police, my only concern would be that by doing so they do not interfere or hinder what it is we are doing. I have no issues with wearing a body cam or being recorded. I have nothing to hide.

What is your position on dash/body cams & public availability of those videos?

The videos from such devices are a way of exonerating those involved. The video should be made available as soon as it is reviewed by those investigating the incident.

Who is endorsing you and what is their relationship to you?

No public officals have publically endorsed me at the moment. The reason for that is because the conflict of doing so. The Sheriff has two depties running in the same race  with an encumbent also running. The Montgomery County Law Enfrcoemnt Association also has reframed from endorsing a candidate due to having three members running as candidates. Several of the Constables have voiced there opinion on who the want to win but would not endorse a candiate publically. Several elected officals who can't openly endorse a candiadte have told me that they are voting for me but cant publically endorse me.  

Please describe the concrete goals against which you want to be measured in the coming term.

I want to run an agency that is know for its transparency and professionalism. One of my goals is to implement programs that would prepare the citizens to empower themselves. One of those programs would be Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events. Cooperation is another issue I feel needs to be addressed. I have spoken to other county agencies such as the Public Health Department and they informed me that they have little to no relationship with law enforcement.  These are issues that need to be addressed.

Please list all civic, political, and union organizations or individuals to whom you have contributed in the past five years.

I have contributed to all Republican womens clubs by attending specific dinners and speaking events. I am a member of the Montgomery County Pachyderms. I also contribute monthly to the Latinos for Trump campaign. I am also a member of the Montgomery County Fair Association. I contribute to the Montgomery County Law enforcement Association with who I serve as a board member.   

To what extent do you believe the state or federal government should be able to obtain court orders directing parents to do things for their children that the parent does not believe should be done?

I am a father of 7 kids and i adamantly oppose any part of the government telling me how or what I should do for my children. I have the absolute best interest of my children in mind and the government should only interfere when it has been proven that the parent has failed to protect the child. Children are our most valuable resource and should be treated as such.

I am not currently a member of a specific conservative group. Although I do follow groups such as PragerU, The Montgomery County Tea party and the Eagle Forum 

Please describe the changes you will make to improve the efficiency of the office for which you are running.

My goal is to provide the depuites the training they need to investigate their own cases. Currently the agency doesnt take reports that may require an investigation due to not having a criminal investigation division. Providing them the training to conduct there own investigation will help the case load of the Sheriff's office. Providing this type of specialized training will help the deputies become more efficent in ever area.

Please describe your position on the proper balance of parental rights and the welfare of the child. Please include a couple of examples.

I mentioned it in a previous question but I feel that after due process a court could step in. Only after it is proven without a shadow of a doubt that the parent is in fact placing the child in harms way. A process should be followed and adhered to, needs to put in to place. It should be publically enforced and overseen by a committee. 

What's your position on red-flag laws, expansion of background checks to private firearms sales, imposing civil liability on sellers of firearms, or any additional regulation of the private sales of firearms?

I will simply say that I am an NRA member and strong supporter of the 2nd ammendment. It should not be infringed upon in any form or fashion.

How will you improve the transparency and access to financial and other records for the public?

I mentioned that I intend to have a transparent agency. That inlcudes our deputy conduct and the financial handling of the adminstration. Adhering to the open record request act is obviously the main way. Cooperation with those that submit the request would also be a priority.

What are the top 3 areas where the budget for this office needs to be adjusted?

The first would be man power, it is an agency that has not grown for recent years. Second would be the coverage and schedule. Evaluating the schedule and adjusting the shifts of those deputies to provide more officers on the street throughout the duration of the day. It is know that the agency has an extremely large core of reserves and specialty unit such as a mounted posse. I know that those are unpaid positions but may require funding for such things as uniforms and such. Evaluation the need for such a large group would also be a priority.

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcys?

After my first divorce I was forced to file for banctruptcy back in 2000. In 2001 I was arrested for a Class C warrant for unpaid citations. I was detained for two days, Also due to my first divorce Both were disclosed to my background investigator which had no effect on my hiring with the agency.  

How should the sheriff/constable handle corruption in his department, even when he thinks there isn't any?

As the Sheriff or Constable of an agency you should recuse your agency from the investigation. If it is belived that corruption is effecting the agency it should be reffered to the Texas Rangers or the FBI for investigation. 

How much of a problem is county hiring based on the "good old boy" / "loyalty to leadership" instead of one's ability to efficiently and ethically perform their tasks and functions? and what can realistically be done about it?

I do believe that their is a problem within the county of "good ole boy" hiring. A good way of combating this would be to enforce the nepotism laws. I have been an advocate of standing on your own merits and accomplishments. Hiring someone simply because you are a relative only hurts the citizens of Montgomery County.

What is your position on taking federal money for your department?

The federal government has programs specifically in place to combat certain types of crime. One is funding to combat terrorism by equipping agencies that may be be required to respond to such events. An agency such as Precinct 2 is to small to qualify for these types of grants. A agency like Pct 2 could function solely on county funds by evaluating agency spending.

How would your election affect you financially?

I have been publically campaigning since early December 2018. To date it has little effect on my personal finances. Through fundraising and campaign contributions I have been able to run a smart direct campaign. I currently have enough funds to carry me through the rest of the race.
