What are the three main reasons you are running for this office? Do you see any potential conflicts of interest?
I have approximately 25 years of law enforcement experience and I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I have worked in almost all areas of law enforcement and I have been a Chief of Police. In addition, I have taught for 13 years at the El Paso Community College as a Professor of Criminal Justice.
Please describe what you believe are the most significant issues in this race, why and what you'll do to address them?
Issues:
(1) The Office of Constable must observe and uphold the law. The current Constable has been sanctioned by TCOLE for "Falsifying a Public Record".
Should your current constable be involved in any criminal case, it is likely the criminal case would be dismissed because it would be proven at the time of trial that the Constable had previously "Falisided a Public Record".
(2) There needs to be an Emergency Management Plan
The last tropical storm dropped large amounts of rain in the area. There was no coordination between the schools, fire departments and law enforcement to create a safe area for the public. (You pay school and county taxes, why did we not have this service even though you pay taxes?)
(3) Customer Service
There needs to be patrol in areas that are known to have "Crack Houses". There have been individuals discharging firearms in neighborhoods and bullets landingon houses. There needs to be traffic control by deputies during peak traffic congestion times. The public needs to be informed of outcomes of complaints.
What is your position on the public's right to record police or other government officials on public property?
Recording an event is helpful and I think it should be used whenever possible.
What is your position on dash/body cams & public availability of those videos?
I agree with the laws pertaining to videos. They should be made available to the public as required by law. I wish we had them in the 1980's!
Who is endorsing you and what is their relationship to you?
I seek endorsement from the public and not special interest groups. For this reason, I do not accept campaign contributions.

Other than Child Neglect and other serious conditions, the parents should be able to provide for their children without government interferrence.

Parental Rights-These are inherent or compulsory rights allowed by law to a parent or guardian
Welfare of the child-Sometimes referred to as "in the best interest of the child".
What's your position on red-flag laws, expansion of background checks to private firearms sales, imposing civil liability on sellers of firearms, or any additional regulation of the private sales of firearms?
Our 2nd Amendment Right to bear arms is important. Red-flag laws seem to impede this Second Amendment right.
