Questionnaire

General

What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?

1. She has served occasionally as Election Judge & attended a few Precinct Caucuses.  I think she has been a delegate to a couple of county GOP conventions.  I'm not sure about state conventions.

2. She's been active in the Montgomery Co. Republican Women's Club.

This is a Republican primary race.  Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

Yes, I firmly support this very conservative & eucational platform.

Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.

"Conservative" to me means supporting traditional values such as stated in the US Constitutiion & Bill of Rights. It's pro-life, pro-family, fiscally responsible and supports biblical values.  It's governement OF the people, BY the people, & FOR the people - a representative form of government.

Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?

I have already proven for decades that i attend almost every CEC meeting, every Vacancy Committee meeting, training session & I have people help me block walk sections of my precinct.  I usually do the hardest sections myself.

Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"

Duh.  - of course not!   Voters are so easily decieved and this is one clever way.

What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1.        Republican
2.        Grassroots
3.        Conservative
4.        Tea Party

Conservative encompases all 4 in my opinion.

How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)

Sometimes election judge, sometimes a clerk in another precinct helping a new Precinct Chair run their election.  But sometimes in the parking lot passing out voter info or making phone calls. I've done it all.

Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?

Yes!  I very much like the Steering Committee style, with the Chairman a member of that committee.  It takes pressure off the Chairman and provides grassroots input.

Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?

The county chair should participate in at least the Steering Committee & Fundraiseing Committee.  Some precinct chairs have full time jobs however and cannot add a committee position to their role.  Others may be retired & have time to be involved in multiple committees. I would encourage that.  I have served on the Vacancy Committee & Nominations Committee for a mumber of years now.

Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?

Yes, by all means!, the County Chair has a lot of influence & should be calling some of the top donors & elected officials for funding HQ expenses & Get Out The Vote.

Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?

Closed!  Too many Democrat minded voters cross over and vote in Republican primaries to produce left-leaning Republican candidates for the General Election.  That's how we end up with too many "moderate" Republicans in office.

Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?

The County Chair should be selected by the grassroots County Executive Committee.  The sitting Precinct Chairs would also best know the candidates for County Chair because of their individual activism within the Party.  . .

There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.

Zero revisions.

There are some "Republicans" who want us to drop the platform altogether & simply have some top issues listed.

There are others who want us to be "neutral on divisive issues so that we don't have division within the Party."   Wow!  I've actually heard a couple of speeches on this throughout the years!  Really!!!

What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?

1.  His constituants need to elect a real Republican.State Representative.

2.  If he does happen to get re-elected, the majority Republican House of Representatives should appoint a genuine Republican Speaker of the House.

Budget

Would you support legislative action to establish a salary framework (possibly related to the Gov. salary) for all taxpayer funded employees with a stipulation that elected officials be required to get voter approval to exceed that framework for their own salaries?

Yes!

Education

Do you support or oppose social programs in our schools (like C-Scope, Common Core, CRT, International Baccalaureate, SEL, etc.)? Why or why not?

I oppose these programs which are full of left-leaning propaganda & Marxist ideology.  This takes valuable time away from quality instruction such as reading, writing & arithmetic,

Ethics

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcys?

NO

Do you agree with precinct chairs involvement in republican primaries? Why or why not?

I certainly do believe that Precinct Chairs should be involved in the primaries. They are the direct Republican connection to neighbors who very much appreciate hands on details about the upcoming elections & Republican candidates.  I've been involved with my precinct for over 2 decades, and I get many thanks as a result.

Should the county GOP chair be involved in any other political organizations, including PAC's, while serving a term as the chairman? Why or why not?

The county GOP chair holds a lot of influence & needs to stay well informed.  I think it's good for the Chairman to attend other political meetings, organizations & events while serving as Chairman. However, I do believe it is a HUGE conflict of interest for the Chairman or spouse to work as a political consultant, campaign manager or campaign treasurer for any Republican running against another Republican in the Primary Election.  They should not be involved in creating or endorsing PACs which favor some Republicans over other Republicans either.

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, sign of heartbeat, 3 months of pregnancy, birth, 5 days old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

I believe life begins a conception and I believe that's when the right to life begins.  However I have one exception which is very rare.  I believe that the mother's life is as valuable as the baby's life.  In an extremely unusual situation where a mother's life is clearly endangered by a pregnancy, I would be in favor of the birth mother to have the right to terminate the pregnancy early.

I have 4 adopted grandchildren whom I dearly love.  I'm in favor of adoption, not abortion.  Do you have any idea how hard it is to adopt children today?

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

Absolutely no freebies.  No incentives.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

"Conservative" to me means supporting traditional values such as stated in the US Constitution & Bill of Rights. It's pro-life, pro-family, fiscally responsible and supports biblical values.  It's government OF the people, BY the people, & FOR the people - a representative form of government.

List 3 changes that should be made to how elections are conducted in Montgomery County.

1.  We have 113 precincts.  We now use paper ballots, but I believe that after the election,1 precinct should be drawn from a hat in each commissioner district & audited by volunteers to ensure that the paper ballots match up with the numbers being reported by Election Central to the SOS.

2.  No early voting

3.  No voting by mail

Do you support current RPT chair Matt Rinaldi in full and if not, what do you disagree with?

I support him Matt because I think he does a good job of raising funds for the Party, and he seems to do his best to uphold grassroots, conservative leadership, not top down rule. I presently donate monthly to RPT because I think Rinaldi is doing a good job.  (I can't say the same with some previous state chairs.)
