Raised on the beliefs of faith and family, Scharlene Valdez is a conservative christian. The oldest daughter of blue-collar parents, her father is a Vietnam Veteran (USMC, two tours) who retired the Texas Air National Guard and Huntsman Chemical and her mother retired as a dental assistant, she is the first of her family to earn both a college and graduate degree, graduating from Lamar University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Spanish and from Texas Tech University School of Law with a Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
Scharlene is married to her best friend who is a practicing criminal defense attorney here in Montgomery County. She is the very proud mother of four grown sons, two beautiful daughters-in-law and four precious grandchildren. Her oldest son and his wife reside in League City, TX with their son and daughter. Her second son and his wife reside in Plantersville, TX with their two sons. Her third son is in the U.S. Army and is currently stationed in Fort Sill, OK awaiting transfer to RASP at Fort Benning, GA. The youngest son will graduate Lone Star Fire Academy on December 18th and has enlisted in the U.S.M.C. with a ship date of April 2022 to bootcamp.
Arriving in Montgomery County in 2007 and getting here as fast as she could, Scharlene served as an assistant county attorney for the Montgomery County Attorney's office initially in the Civil Division - Governmental Affairs assisting the Commissioners in Commissioner's Court, drafting contracts for Montgomery County Airport leases and advising the Community Development Block Grant program. After a year, she was appointed as a prosecutor for the Child Protective Services Division.
