This is a Republican primary race. Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.
Yes, I promise to abide by the RPT platform.
What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1. Republican
2. Grassroots
3. Conservative
4. Tea Party
3. Conservative
There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.
1. Border Security 2. Eliminate Property Tax 3. Vaccine Mandate 4. Parents’ Rights and Critical Race Theory 5. Right to Life 6. Committee Chairs 7. Election Integrity 8. Gender Modification 9. Parental Educational Relief 10. Freedom of Conscience
I support all of these proposed revision to the RPT platform. The only one that gives me slight pause is the elimination of the property tax. I voted to support this in the ballot box because I agree with it in principle. However, taxes will need to be collected in some way. I rather would had us specifiy in our platform how we propose to replace the property tax when proposing to strike it down rather than us just say we would like to strike it down.
Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?
The county GOP chair should be involved in fundraising in the general election. They should not get involved in fundraising for candidates in the primary election. Their role in the primary election should be managing a healthy organization in which candidates can run successfully.
Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?
I fully support a steering committee approach to running a political organization, especially the Republican party which supposedly best represents the principles of a constitutional republic. Centralized power is corrupted power. I don't trust it in Washington, I don't trust it in Austin, and I don't trust it in Conroe.
Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"
I do not believe they should use the term Republican, or conservative for that matter, in PAC names. However, I don't see any court abridging freedom of speech or legislating political speech to limit such uses of terms.
Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?
The precinct chair should be totally committed to their role, including assuming responsibilities of serving of committees. However, I have seen organizations run by committees that can't get anything done. I would want the committees to be effective, defined with clear scopes and purposes, and staffed properly. I would rather some chairs not have a committee role and it be effectively ran than all chairs have a committee role and it be ineffective.
Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?
Yes. I'm all in. When I commit to something, I become totally invested. I was raised that way; not going to stop now.
How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)
Yes, they should be involved in elections, especially with the rise in voter fraud and abuse. They should exemplify what every citizen should do and be the eyes and ears on the ground. Any problems can then be reported up through the party where issues can really be addressed more broadly.
What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?
I have no strong feeling towards or against him. However, I do have mild discontent for our state leaders, including Abbot for weak leadership during the pandemic. Many, it seemed to me, licked their fingers and stuck them in the air to determine the political winds before standing on principle. This is why I voted for Don Huffines for governor. We need more DeSantis in Texas and fewer Gavin Newsom lites.
In the end, however, I'll support Abbot and other republicans running in the general election.
