I was born in Houston, Texas, a long time ago! My family moved to Freeport when I was in the 4th grade and I lived in Brazoria County for most of my life. I graduated from Brazosport High School, again, a long time ago, then went to Sam Houston State where I majored in Teaching and minored in Physics. I began my teaching career at Smiley High School and have taught in both public and private schools and even taught in Windham School District (prison system) for 10 years. I attended University of Houston Clear Lake and earned my Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology with a specailization in Human Resource Management.

I met and married my husband in 1977 and we have 3 sons. Two of which live nearby. That is what brought me to Montgomery County after I retired. I wanted to be nearer my sons. The third son lives in Oregon. I have two beautiful granddaughters also in Oregon.

After my husband passed away 8 years ago and I came to Montgomery County, I found that a dear friend had also landed here after retirement and we were able to reconnect, She is the one who introduced me to the world of Montgomery County Politics. I have been a life long republican from a family of mostly republicans, and a multi-generational TEXAN, as my family came here with an original land grant with S. F. Austin. A fact I am very proud of!

In 2019, I started attending CEC (County Executive Committee)  meetings with my friend and decided I wanted to be an active and involved citizen. I ran for Precinct Chair for Pct. 43 and was seated for the 2020-22 bieneium. In 2021, I was redistricted to the new Precinct 102 and was elected during the 2022 Primary. Since my first election, I have attended every CEC meeting, have been elected by the CEC to the Steering Committee, and most recently as the Party secretary. I continue to serve on the Fundraising Committee which has raised approximately $75K. I am also a member of the Communication Team that produces our monthly newsletter The Republican Reporter of which I am very proud. It is the team's goal to produce and be a factual, verifiable, and informational source that voters can rely on for truthful and relevant information.  I am also on the Precinct Chair Training and Development Committee.

I am a member of the Montgomery County Tea Party and was elected to the Board of Directors. In 2022, I was asked to serve on the Board of Directors of Eagle Forum. I am also a charter member of the Freedom Caucus. In addition, I serve as an early voting clerk and election day judge. Honesty, Integrity, and Transparency in government is my mantra and are extremely important to me as I work to make Montgomery County Republicans proud.

Questionnaire

General

What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?

I just learned on Dec. 10th that I have a challenger. I have never met her, therefore, have no knowledge of her.

This is a Republican primary race.  Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

I fully support the Republican Party Platform, especially, since the source of the content comes from the thousands of Texas Republican Delegates that attend their Grassroots Precinct, Senate, and State conventions.

Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.

I consider myself a conservative. I subscribe to the ideas of limited government, personal and fiscal responsibility, and I believe that God is our Creator who endowed us with unalienable rights. I belive those elected to represent We The People should do just that and be held accountable when they don't.

Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?

Of course. As indicated in the statement above, I am very involved with the CEC. I have not missed a CEC meeting, I am actively involved on the Fundraising Committee, the Communication Team, and the Precinct Training and Development Committee. I was elected by my peers to serve on the Steering Committee and now to also serve as Party Secretary. I am honored to represent my Constituents of Precinct 102, but I work for all Republicans.

I will be out walking my precinct in the next couple of months and I enjoy meeting and talking with each of you. I will also be out in the parking lot to meet voters during early voting and on election day!  Let's hope that this year it is dry and moderate. Last time it was wet and windy!

I want to encourage every voter to exercise your right to vote and make your voice heard!

Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"

The Republian name is available to all, however, there are limits. As stated in the introduction my mantra is honesty, integrity, and transparency. When any group uses the Republican name to deceive or trick voters into voting for their preferred candidates; that is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I am aware that there are several Political Action Committees (PACs)  active in the county that do just that. They do not act with integrity or honesty. They hide behind the "republican" name in their groups name to pretend they are doing a service for voters by providing "Republican" voter guides, which is not always the case. These groups have their own agenda, they endorse those who are not true conservatives or even republican. For instance, there were "Republican" PACs working to elect a known and proven Beto supporter to the Woodlands Township. They were almost successful in unseating a known warrior for Conservative Republican principles and values. Their goal is power, money, and putting more RINOS in office, even to the detriment of Montgomery County voters.

What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1.        Republican
2.        Grassroots
3.        Conservative
4.        Tea Party

I would have to say Grassroots, first. I believe in the vision our Founding Fathers had when they put their lives on the line to establish this Great Nation! That vision started with WE THE PEOPLE. We are the Grassroots and our political future starts here with each of us in our homes and community. That is why it is so important for every voter to make their voice known and heard by voting.

How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)

During my years as a Precinct Chair, I have served as both a clerk and an election day judge. Both have been wonderful ways to participate in the election process and a task that I have enjoyed doing. As an American citizen,  I beleive it is our reponsibility to help make our elections as secure and safe as possible and working as a clerk or judge provides a great opportunity to do that. Precinct Chairs should help provide the manpower to conduct our elections either by serving or by helping recruit people to fill those positions. When a precinct chair is on the ballot they are not allowed to work the election. Otherwise, it is up to the individual to decide where their effort is most useful; inside working the election or out in the parking lot encouraging and greeting voters.

Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?

Since I do not like a dictatorial style of leadership, I strongly support the Steering Committe style. We have seen in recent times just what happens when a person or "party" develops too much power. They seem to forget their humble beginnings as one of the people and believe they have been elevated to a higher plane of existence commonly known as the 'ruling class". At that point it becomes all about them, their power and level of influence and adding more and more. The last 2 county chairs were in that class. They resented and resisted the precinct chairs when they took a stand against a top down 'leadership" position and insisted on oversight and control by the precinct chairs or a Steering Committee. This gave power back to the whole and limited power by the one.

Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?

There is so much more to being a member of the County Executive Committee (CEC). There is a great deal of work to do and it is not limited to election season. The work is year round. Most of that work is done by Committee and requires ALL members to actively participate to get it done. There are several committee choices and each has its own unique requirements for talents and skills necessary to make it work. So, yes, every PC is needed to be as active as they can comfortably be to make the party successful.

The county chair should demonstrate leadership by doing more than sitting back and calling the shots. Leading by example is a very effective way to help make sure things get done and get done well. The county chair is techniccally a member of every committee, but should be active in at least one.

Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?

Fundraising is one of the primary duties of the county chair.  The chairman is the "face' of the party and should be out and about in the community building strong relationships with voters and that takes money. So, yes, the Chair should again, lead by example, and take an active roll in helping raise funds for expenses related to maintaining a headquarters and promoting Republican Values in the county.

Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?

I believe we should have closed primaries. I would also like to do away with the statement of affirmation that some people can sign and just declare themselves a Republican when they really are not. Some unscruplous people take advantage of open primaries to "cross-over" and vote to upset or skew an election by voting for weak or problematic candidates to take away the true conservative candidates chances to win. We know this is a known democrat strategy and it works in too many instances.

Closed primaries would limit those opportunities.

Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?

I favor having the CEC elect their own chairman. Much like the House of Representatives elects its Speaker. Precinct chairs are elected by the voters, so it does not eliminate or reduce voter representation. The job of the Chairman is to preside over the CEC meetings. Contrary to some, the Chair does not rule over the precinct chairs. The chair is supposed to guide them and make sure everyone is following the rules. In the past 2 years, our county chair has decided that he is the Ruler and the Grassroots precinct chairs are an obstacle to that power. The precinct chairs have a limited and extremely difficult means to remove a rogue chair and that creates either an ineffective CEC or it causes a split in the party which is what is happening across the state, not only in Montgomery County. If PCs elect their chairman and he opposes the majority, they can replace him after due process, keeping the CEC working for the voters and building a strong cohesive party.

There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.

I would like to see a means of holding elected officials more accountable. There are too many "republican" officials that ignore and hold in disdain our state and county party. They do not fear any consequences because there is not really anything the Party can do except talk. We need for the Party to have some meaningful process to censure and/or remove these people from the party which would remove all support from the party including monetary resources. If they don't fear the consequences of defying the wishes of We the People, then we have no power to hold them accountable.

I would also like to see the party platform take a stronger stand on protecting our children, our borders, and our state sovereignty by putting some teeth in the consequences for those lawmakers that don't adhere to the legistative priorities sent to them by We the People.

What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?

That is an easy one, he has got to go. He and his minions actively support the democrat agenda, he openly defies the state leadership, but more importantly he openly defies the people of Texas. We can't allow that to continue. He and his supporters must be voted out of office, asap.

Budget

Would you support legislative action to establish a salary framework (possibly related to the Gov. salary) for all taxpayer funded employees with a stipulation that elected officials be required to get voter approval to exceed that framework for their own salaries?

Most definitely. I have long believed that lawmakers's salaries should not exceed the median income of their constituents on a local level and that of the state income for state level office holders. That is not really realistic, but it expresses my belief that incomes should be limited, should be hard to increase, and should never be automatic. There has to be some justification  for salary increases and should always be by voter approval only.

Education

Do you support or oppose social programs in our schools (like C-Scope, Common Core, CRT, International Baccalaureate, SEL, etc.)? Why or why not?

N

Oppose! I am a retired teacher. I taught elementary, junior high, high school, and even taught inmates in the prison system. They all need basically the same thing: to learn to read, write, and do their sums! Teachers are becoming too dependent on professionally developed curriculums that are often developed by people who have never been on the other side of the desk, have never taught children. They just think because they themselves are 'life-long" students and acquire a doctorate they can tell the teachers in the trenches how to teach. You can't learn to teach from a book. You have to experience it and not everyone is cut out for the job. Most of these university developed curriculums are inundated with liberalism, progressiveism, and socialism. They don't teach students to be good readers, thinkers, or communicators. They just teach them to defy society and to be dependent on their overlords to tell them what to do.

We need to give the teachers back their classrooms and let them teach the subject matter without indoctrnating our children.

Ethics

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcys?

No

Do you agree with precinct chairs involvement in republican primaries? Why or why not?

Precinct chairs are the worker bees that build our party. Our party's responsibilitiy is to recruit good conservative candidates for office. Precinct chairs know the candidates and incumbents records better than the average voter. So, yes, precinct chairs should be able to help their constituents know which is the better candidate by providing insights, resources, and their knowledge of candidates and issues.

Should the county GOP chair be involved in any other political organizations, including PAC's, while serving a term as the chairman? Why or why not?

I think the county chair is a person with interests and views of their own, however, while serving as the top representative of the Party, the chairman must be very careful in what and who he gives credence to by his participation in any politically active organization. If the chair is known to  associate with known  lberals, progressives, and/or socialist RINOs then that can and will most likely weaken the Republican Party in the eyes of the voters. Therefore, he/she should refrain from being active in one group over another.

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, sign of heartbeat, 3 months of pregnancy, birth, 5 days old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

God spoke life into existence when he created the world. He knits us together in our mother's womb. He knows us at conception. Therefore, LIFE begins at the instant of conception as that is an individual with a God created soul.

I support candidates and laws that protect the life of every child. No child should be held accountable to the point of death for the actions of another.

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

I believe the border should be closed and protected from unwanted immigrants. They should be repelled at the border and forced to turn back before entering the river! The better strategy would be to stop incentivising them to come in the first place, but if they do arrive on US soil they should immediately be returned to their home country. Making it harder to gain access, making it less inviting to be here, and sending them back home would create a dramatic reduction in illegal border crossings.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

See answer to question #3.

List 3 changes that should be made to how elections are conducted in Montgomery County.

First eliminate or drastically reduce the number of mail-in ballots, although I believe our county does a good job of monitoring mail in ballots, the election laws do limit what the county can do. That needs to be changed.

Second, I believe we need more training for election clerks and judges. As I have been working as both for several election cycles I find that I learn something new every time. I also know that clerks who only work on election day are not well practiced in how they perform their duties. They need more practice in working with voters, more practice in setting up the equipment, and better preparation on how to deal with problems that may come up with the machines or voters.  I have worked with a great many excellent people and they work hard so this is not a reflection on the person, but on the time and resources provided for training. Commissioners need to provide the resources for more intense training..

Do you support current RPT chair Matt Rinaldi in full and if not, what do you disagree with?

Yes, BUT, I believe he needs to more aggressively enforce the RPT rules on every level.  Personally, I have been very frustrated with the lack of strong leadership from the state party when faced with rogue county chairs and a rogue speaker of the House and his minions who openly defy the state party with no apparent consequences. It is not Chairman Rinaldi's fault that the SREC also is home to several weak republicans. So, if we want a strong State Party, we need to be very selective in the election of SREC members at the state convention.
