What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?
I just learned on Dec. 10th that I have a challenger. I have never met her, therefore, have no knowledge of her.
This is a Republican primary race. Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.
I fully support the Republican Party Platform, especially, since the source of the content comes from the thousands of Texas Republican Delegates that attend their Grassroots Precinct, Senate, and State conventions.
Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.
I consider myself a conservative. I subscribe to the ideas of limited government, personal and fiscal responsibility, and I believe that God is our Creator who endowed us with unalienable rights. I belive those elected to represent We The People should do just that and be held accountable when they don't.
Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?
Of course. As indicated in the statement above, I am very involved with the CEC. I have not missed a CEC meeting, I am actively involved on the Fundraising Committee, the Communication Team, and the Precinct Training and Development Committee. I was elected by my peers to serve on the Steering Committee and now to also serve as Party Secretary. I am honored to represent my Constituents of Precinct 102, but I work for all Republicans.
I will be out walking my precinct in the next couple of months and I enjoy meeting and talking with each of you. I will also be out in the parking lot to meet voters during early voting and on election day! Let's hope that this year it is dry and moderate. Last time it was wet and windy!
I want to encourage every voter to exercise your right to vote and make your voice heard!
Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"
The Republian name is available to all, however, there are limits. As stated in the introduction my mantra is honesty, integrity, and transparency. When any group uses the Republican name to deceive or trick voters into voting for their preferred candidates; that is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I am aware that there are several Political Action Committees (PACs) active in the county that do just that. They do not act with integrity or honesty. They hide behind the "republican" name in their groups name to pretend they are doing a service for voters by providing "Republican" voter guides, which is not always the case. These groups have their own agenda, they endorse those who are not true conservatives or even republican. For instance, there were "Republican" PACs working to elect a known and proven Beto supporter to the Woodlands Township. They were almost successful in unseating a known warrior for Conservative Republican principles and values. Their goal is power, money, and putting more RINOS in office, even to the detriment of Montgomery County voters.
What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1. Republican
2. Grassroots
3. Conservative
4. Tea Party
I would have to say Grassroots, first. I believe in the vision our Founding Fathers had when they put their lives on the line to establish this Great Nation! That vision started with WE THE PEOPLE. We are the Grassroots and our political future starts here with each of us in our homes and community. That is why it is so important for every voter to make their voice known and heard by voting.
How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)
During my years as a Precinct Chair, I have served as both a clerk and an election day judge. Both have been wonderful ways to participate in the election process and a task that I have enjoyed doing. As an American citizen, I beleive it is our reponsibility to help make our elections as secure and safe as possible and working as a clerk or judge provides a great opportunity to do that. Precinct Chairs should help provide the manpower to conduct our elections either by serving or by helping recruit people to fill those positions. When a precinct chair is on the ballot they are not allowed to work the election. Otherwise, it is up to the individual to decide where their effort is most useful; inside working the election or out in the parking lot encouraging and greeting voters.
Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?
Since I do not like a dictatorial style of leadership, I strongly support the Steering Committe style. We have seen in recent times just what happens when a person or "party" develops too much power. They seem to forget their humble beginnings as one of the people and believe they have been elevated to a higher plane of existence commonly known as the 'ruling class". At that point it becomes all about them, their power and level of influence and adding more and more. The last 2 county chairs were in that class. They resented and resisted the precinct chairs when they took a stand against a top down 'leadership" position and insisted on oversight and control by the precinct chairs or a Steering Committee. This gave power back to the whole and limited power by the one.
Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?
There is so much more to being a member of the County Executive Committee (CEC). There is a great deal of work to do and it is not limited to election season. The work is year round. Most of that work is done by Committee and requires ALL members to actively participate to get it done. There are several committee choices and each has its own unique requirements for talents and skills necessary to make it work. So, yes, every PC is needed to be as active as they can comfortably be to make the party successful.
The county chair should demonstrate leadership by doing more than sitting back and calling the shots. Leading by example is a very effective way to help make sure things get done and get done well. The county chair is techniccally a member of every committee, but should be active in at least one.
Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?
Fundraising is one of the primary duties of the county chair. The chairman is the "face' of the party and should be out and about in the community building strong relationships with voters and that takes money. So, yes, the Chair should again, lead by example, and take an active roll in helping raise funds for expenses related to maintaining a headquarters and promoting Republican Values in the county.
Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?
I believe we should have closed primaries. I would also like to do away with the statement of affirmation that some people can sign and just declare themselves a Republican when they really are not. Some unscruplous people take advantage of open primaries to "cross-over" and vote to upset or skew an election by voting for weak or problematic candidates to take away the true conservative candidates chances to win. We know this is a known democrat strategy and it works in too many instances.
Closed primaries would limit those opportunities.
Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?
I favor having the CEC elect their own chairman. Much like the House of Representatives elects its Speaker. Precinct chairs are elected by the voters, so it does not eliminate or reduce voter representation. The job of the Chairman is to preside over the CEC meetings. Contrary to some, the Chair does not rule over the precinct chairs. The chair is supposed to guide them and make sure everyone is following the rules. In the past 2 years, our county chair has decided that he is the Ruler and the Grassroots precinct chairs are an obstacle to that power. The precinct chairs have a limited and extremely difficult means to remove a rogue chair and that creates either an ineffective CEC or it causes a split in the party which is what is happening across the state, not only in Montgomery County. If PCs elect their chairman and he opposes the majority, they can replace him after due process, keeping the CEC working for the voters and building a strong cohesive party.
There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.
I would like to see a means of holding elected officials more accountable. There are too many "republican" officials that ignore and hold in disdain our state and county party. They do not fear any consequences because there is not really anything the Party can do except talk. We need for the Party to have some meaningful process to censure and/or remove these people from the party which would remove all support from the party including monetary resources. If they don't fear the consequences of defying the wishes of We the People, then we have no power to hold them accountable.
I would also like to see the party platform take a stronger stand on protecting our children, our borders, and our state sovereignty by putting some teeth in the consequences for those lawmakers that don't adhere to the legistative priorities sent to them by We the People.
What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?
That is an easy one, he has got to go. He and his minions actively support the democrat agenda, he openly defies the state leadership, but more importantly he openly defies the people of Texas. We can't allow that to continue. He and his supporters must be voted out of office, asap.
