3. Conservative

Republican
There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.
I am unaware of the major changes that the RPT may make. However any changes that are passed and supported by the Majority of the SREC members which represent all 31 Senatorial districts in our great state I would support.
Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?
If the fundraiser is for the party I am definitely in favor of the county chairman to be involved. He is the elected leader of the party by majority vote of the entire county. Therefore he represents all of us. Fundraising is an Intercal part of all politics, including Montgomery County Republican Party.
Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?
No. Monthomery County should replicate how the State RPT is run and organized. For example, the state party chairman selects all of his committee chairman. The county chairman won the popular vote of the entire county and that means the voters have confidence in his ability to lead and select his own committee chair. He should be allowed to also select 40% of the committee members and the CEC should select the other 60% of the committee members. This has worked well for our state party, our state legislature, and congress for a lot of years and 252 out of 254 counties in Texas. The only two other counties that have tried the steering committee approach (Galveston & Travis) gave it up after a period of time realizing the dissension that it causes by taking away the powers and some of the duties the county chairman was elected to reside over.
Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"
Yes, and the State Party Chairman has already addressed this issue (in writing) and says that anyone can use the word Republican for any reason.
Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?
No for county chair- yes for precinct chairs. The county chair should remain independent of committees so that committees can make recommendations to the chair without his influence.
Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?
Yes, as I did so previously for 12 straight years as Precinct Chair of 64, and due to redistributing then Precinct 38.
Due to redistributing, I am now in precinct #105. Additionally, during that 12 year stretch, I was the election judge for the primary election, runoff election as well as the general election and due to my efforts of getting out the vote, was always in the top 5 of voters turnout % for each election in Montgmery Co.
How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)
Definitely election judge. I believe if you've done your job as a Precinct Chair to get out the vote leading up to the election- then on election day you should be inside running the election and guaranteeing the integrity of the election.
What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?
No opinion - he is elected by a majority of our state representatives. If he does not live up to their expectations, then they should vote him out.
