General

What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?

Since having filed, Lana Hazlett has withdrawn her position as Precinct Chair. I only met my current opponent, Mr. Lowe, once in passing as he was supporting his daughter, Tricia Danto, in the last local election. My running is not by recommendation of any one person or organization but of my own will and to inject some passion and new blood into the local Republican party! Rather than talk about something I don’t know, I would prefer to comment on my desire to help our party by other means. I am completely bilingual, my opponent is not. My connections to both Spanish and English-speaking voters helped to garner votes for local candidates these past two years. I hope to bring some more people to our side by providing them with true benefits to voting Republican instead of Democrat.

This is a Republican primary race.  Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

If elected, I promise to abide by the RPT platform. This platform is why I decided to run. Last year, my husband and I became more involved in local politics because we obvserved the need to stick to strong conservative values if we wanted to protect our assets, our families, our faith, and our way of life.

Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.

To me, being conservative means adhering to traditional values most especially in family structure, defending life from conception to natural death, limited government, and being frugal with how taxpayer money is spent at the local, state, and federal levels. To be conservative is to fight to "conserve" our rights as citizens: religion, bearing arms, speech, education, medical, etc.

Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?

Yes! I am willing and eager to put in the time necessary to attend all of these as I have had great practice in the past two years. My husband ran for Township Board last year (2022) which served to introduce us both to everything that goes into running a successful campaign, including the importance of blockwalking. This past election cycle, I helped a friend with her campaign (2023) by creating her website, push cards, yard signs, and various forms of social media. I have also helped the Texas Patriots PAC with the creation of their voter guide for this past 2023 local election. I am eager to continue being involved and helping residents to understand why it is imperative and beneficial to vote REPUBLICAN.

Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"

Absolutely not as it would be unethical to use in the deception of voters. There is a certain amount of trust that comes from seeing Republican brands. When used to deceive voters it causes distrust. While I would hope a truly conservative organization would only use the “Republican” brand to help our party. There are always other forms of establishing your party allegiance.

What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1.        Republican
2.        Grassroots
3.        Conservative
4.        Tea Party

My political ideology is best described as Grassroots. Most of the exposure to any political involvement comes from what I learned in the past two years. For the past 23 years, I focused on my marriage, and with my husband, we raised our 4 boys to have strong conservative values that is supported by our Catholic faith. Most of the people that my husband and I mobilized were neighbors and their friends, business contacts, residents met during our block walking, and church friends who were looking to make a difference at the local level (Township Board). I used different forms of social media, signs, mass emails, texts, and other means of spreading the word and inviting residents to get out and vote in English and in Spanish! I believe as a conservative Republican, I work best in the local arena and look forward to making a difference by helping both English and Spanish-speaking residents to see the benefits of voting Republican.

How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)

I think it’s appropriate for a precinct chair to know what is going on in their precinct and therefore important to be an election judge. I have had several friends volunteer in this capacity and being bilingual, I believe that this is a strong and necessary skill that is needed in our growing multi-lingual community. English speakers are not our only voters and they need to understand what is happening from a trusted source.

Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?

I have not served on any committee that benefitted from just a chairperson. A steering committee serves to ensure that money, resources, goals, and strategies are properly developed and executed, WITH the input of necessary individuals. I strongly believe in Checks and Balances.

Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?

I STRONGLY believe that precinct chairs should actively participate in at least ONE committee. It’s important to not only volunteer as a helper but to also be involved in a decision-making capacity. The importance of being informed about what is going on in our local, state, and national governments from a trusted and valid source, is priceless.

Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?

I think all members should be involved in fundraising but at different levels! Everyone’s strengths are different but ALL should be involved as it shows commitment to the cause.

Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?

I believe primaries should be closed because there needs to be continuity in the way one party votes. If the primary is open then you leave the party open to other parties stepping in and committing votes to a candidate that does not represent our party or even takes away votes from our valid conservative candidates.

Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?

I believe the GOP County Chair should be selected by the elected County Executive Committee.

There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.

I haven’t seen any discussions. All I’ve heard are different stances that Presidential candidates are taking. I don’t like to toe the line. I like for people to know where I stand. For example: I pray that the Republican party holds true to defending our Second Amendment, that they hold strong in the fight against abortion accessibility, that there be continued support for strengthening our country by increasing oil & gas production, condemning bailouts for big businesses, and focusing on border security.

What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?

He needed to be removed. He was ineffective to the RP cause, focused tax payer money on this indictment of Paxton, and was ineffective in executing conservative legislation.

Budget

Would you support legislative action to establish a salary framework (possibly related to the Gov. salary) for all taxpayer funded employees with a stipulation that elected officials be required to get voter approval to exceed that framework for their own salaries?

I would need more detailed information before saying whether I supported this action or not, like how is this framework being established and by whom. If it exceeds the established framework, we should know why.

Education

Do you support or oppose social programs in our schools (like C-Scope, Common Core, CRT, International Baccalaureate, SEL, etc.)? Why or why not?

I absolutely OPPOSE these social programs. They have NO PLACE in our schools. Common Core shouldn’t be forced on anyone. Learning issues are not normally the majority but for some reason, the powers that push this feel like we should all bow down to the minority. CRT is reverse discrimination, Social Emotional Learning should NOT be in the school. Period. Our kids in school are there to learn ACADEMICS. Anything social/emotional is the right the parent/guardian has to teach/or not teach from home.

Ethics

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcys?

None. There is nothing in my background that I would have any issue discussing.

Do you agree with precinct chairs involvement in republican primaries? Why or why not?

Yes, I agree with Precinct Chairs having involvement in republican primaries because, through the vetting/attending of events/gathering of information and candidates, they can provide trusted sources for their voters to fact-check on their own time.

Should the county GOP chair be involved in any other political organizations, including PAC's, while serving a term as the chairman? Why or why not?

I think it would depend on the level of involvement. As the county’s GOP chair, I am sure that there are certain duties that must be performed before he/she can dedicate a certain amount of time to other political organizations/PACs. I can also see how his/her involvement in different PACs could create issues.

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, sign of heartbeat, 3 months of pregnancy, birth, 5 days old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

I am a practicing Catholic, therefore I know without a doubt that the right to life begins at conception! I am an active pro-life member, attend rallies with my family, and have since I was a teenager, I attend prayer vigils, and I help with crisis pregnancies by providing items needed. You can go to my Facebook page/Instagram and see how I consistently fight for this right, as do all members of my family (husband and four boys).

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

Our borders NEED TO BE SECURED! I would defer this answer to those who are on the front line, those who see what is happening, and KNOW what is needed. The current government has been too lenient on the people who have sought asylum, those who have been released into our state, and for not keeping track of them after they enter, and yet use our taxes for their hospital bills, school costs, etc. As a daughter of two Mexican Immigrants who came over LEGALLY, we know firsthand the benefits and blessings that we’ve received from doing things the right/legal way. Our country is already strained by trying to provide for the illegals in this country. Catholic Charities is constantly stepping in to help so that humanitarian efforts are made but we are struggling and the American taxpayers should not have to bear the weight of our government’s lack of attention to a serious issue in our nation’s security.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

I’m going to reiterate what I already said above: To me, being conservative means adhering to traditional values most especially in family structure, defending life from conception to natural death, limited government, and being frugal with how taxpayer money is spent at the local, state, and federal levels. To be conservative is to fight to "conserve" our rights as citizens: religion, bearing arms, speech, education, medical, etc. To me: I live by my faith. There is no separation. I am conservative because I live by my faith. My faith dictates that this is the way to live. How can I live otherwise?

List 3 changes that should be made to how elections are conducted in Montgomery County.

I am not very familiar with what happens inside but from personal experience, these are a couple of things I noticed:

  1.  I believe endorsements from county officials should be taken out.

  2. There needs to be better enforcement on how signs are used and where they are placed

Do you support current RPT chair Matt Rinaldi in full and if not, what do you disagree with?

From what I have recently read on Mr. Rinaldi it seems like he is attempting to keep the party in order. I noticed that he’s had some issues with The Young Republicans lately and will be watching to see what comes from that. There will always be people that disagree. You cannot make everyone happy but you should always take the time to stay informed on our leaders and look for trusted and proven sources of information.
