General

What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?

Voters need to know that Montgomery County and Texas State politics have good and bad actors within the same Republican party. The good actors are committed to limited government, constitutional principles, and restraining those who would use their positions for greed. The bad actors are willing to compromise with liberal Democrats on important points in order to retain power. I do not know anything about my opponent but I hope that she is knowledgeable about these conflicts of interest within the Republican party.

This is a Republican primary race.  Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

I support the main points of the RPT platform though I am not confident I can defend every facet of every detail of the enumerated points. In particular I support this point:

I also suppport point 58 on flood control as especially relevant to East Montgomery County.

Regarding point 101 establishing Educational Savings Accounts for Texas students, I am currently neutral. I am concerned that despite point 102 regarding "no strings attached" for homeschool students, if Texas tax dollars are used for private school and homeschool students it opens the door to further regulation of private education. I understand the goal is to diversify options to the compromised public education system, but I am in doubt whether this is the best way to do it. Although all Texan parents may not be able to afford private or home school, the status quo does already  give Texan parents full freedom to choose the education they wish. I need to continue my study of this topic.

Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.

The word Conservative means that we must have something of value to conserve. I believe that is first of all the moral and Christian foundation of this country.  Morality is not subjective but is based on an unchanging standard, which is the word of God. Conservatives must not make compomises with secular ethics in order to pursue power.

Second of all, being conservative means protecting Constitutional principles including the division of powers and limited government.

Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?

To the best of my ability, yes.

Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"

No I do not think this should be allowed. The Republican Party of Texas is a specific organization and ancillary organizations that are not controlled by it should not use its name.

How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)

Yes, it is vital that empowered citizens be participants in running elections. However precinct chairs also have responsibility to educate the voters in their precincts, which can be done outside the polls in the parking lot, as well as by block walking and other means.

Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?

A committee is preferable because they are more able to govern based on representative principles than a single county chairman.

Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?

Yes

Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?

I do not believe the county GOP chair should be involved in fundraising for the precinct chairs if he is elected by them (not the current format), but he or she could be involved in fundraising for other state offices.

Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?

I believe primaries should be closed so that there will not be influence of bad actors in the primary.

Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?

It would be better for the county chair to be selected by the elected County Executive Committee. This also represents the original intent of the Constitution, whereby the President was to be chosen by the Representatives.

What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?

Dade Phelan has disqualified himself from his position in multiple ways. He is a burden on the party and on the Texas House and should resign.

Budget

Would you support legislative action to establish a salary framework (possibly related to the Gov. salary) for all taxpayer funded employees with a stipulation that elected officials be required to get voter approval to exceed that framework for their own salaries?

Education

Do you support or oppose social programs in our schools (like C-Scope, Common Core, CRT, International Baccalaureate, SEL, etc.)? Why or why not?

I oppose social programs. Many of them are oriented to identity politics with Marxist ties. It would be better if the history and literature curriculum was returned to norms from 20 years ago or older. There should be a committee of parents, teachers, and school board members that have the authority to vet library books before they are added to the library. Topics that promote civic unity should be advanced, such as memorizing portions of the founding documents and other historical speeches.

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcys?

No

Do you agree with precinct chairs involvement in republican primaries? Why or why not?

Involvement in Republican primaries is party of the duty and privilege of any responsible citizen, including precinct chairs.

Should the county GOP chair be involved in any other political organizations, including PAC's, while serving a term as the chairman? Why or why not?

The county GOP chair should represent and lead the precinct chairs in the county, for the good of the party and the county,  and for the promotion of the party platform. He or she should not be beholden to any other organizations during his time in office.

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, sign of heartbeat, 3 months of pregnancy, birth, 5 days old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

I strongly believe that, in the words of RPT Legislative Priority #6 of the 2022 primary ballot we must "Abolish abortion by ensuring the right to life and equal protection of the laws to all preborn children from the moment of fertilization, including adopting effective tools to ensure the enforcement of our laws to protect life when district attorneys fail to do so.”

Protection of human persons is already granted to the preborn by the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution: "nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

Currently, the state of Texas does not fulfill its God-given and Constitutional duty to protect the preborn, because in  the homicide statute there is an exception clause that allows women to kill their babies in the womb. Although the clinics are closed, women can still commit abortion with pills. Abolition simply means to remove that exception clause from the homicide statute.

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

Assertion of state sovereignty against the federal government should empower Texas to protect its border. Texas has the right to nullify unjust and unconstitutional Federal regulations.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

According to a positive definition of conservatism, it means protecting the Christian moral foundation of this country and the Constitution.

According to a more negative definition of modern conservatives, conservatives are often willing to protect the status quo. If the secular, progressive culture moves to the left, so-called conservatives often argue that we should return to the cultural step just preceding the latest leftward step. That means they often make compromises with bad morality.

True conservatives should be willing to disrupt the status quo in order to return government to our Christian moral foundation and the Constitution as the Founders understood it.

List 3 changes that should be made to how elections are conducted in Montgomery County.

1. Cameras should be everywhere that the ballots travel, are being handled, or are being counted.
2. Watermarked Paper Ballots; no machines. The printing and quantity of printed ballots should be tightly
controlled.
3. Citizens should be able to call for a hand recount, or the Secretary of State office. All processes should be at ready for a hand recount. If machines are used, they should be periodically checked at random by a hand counting team to verify they are counting correctly.

Do you support current RPT chair Matt Rinaldi in full and if not, what do you disagree with?

I support Matt Rinaldi
