What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?
-
This is a Republican primary race. Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.
Yes, I promise to support and abide by the Republican Party Platform.
Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.
A true conservative is patriotic, and supports our country and the ideals and principles our country was founded upon. As a conservative I support our Constitution and Bill of Rights, along with limited government, free markets and a fair rule of law.
Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?
Yes, I am willing to make time to attend meetings, training sessions, block walking and get out the vote activities.
Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"
No, I do not support PACS using the Republican brand name to convince voters that they are the true opinion of the Republican party. This is a deceptive practice because many people who vote Republican do not know the difference.
What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1. Republican
2. Grassroots
3. Conservative
4. Tea Party
Grassroots conservative, but I like all four.
How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)
Precinct chairs should be well versed in all parts of the election so they can recruit others to help. Every part of the election process is vital: campaigning in the parking lot on election day, block walking, get out the vote activities as well as the election judge and clerk activities. The election process from start to finish is our main job.
Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?
I support the Steering Committee leadership model because it provides an organization with a strong foundation of guidance, strategic planning and oversight. The Steering Committee has an advantage in that it has a cross-section of individuals who can better represent the whole party.
Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?
I do believe that participating in at least one committee is beneficial, but I also support people who choose to volunteer as an extra pair of hands across multiple party needs.
Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?
Yes, the GOP chair should use their visible presence in the community to fundraise for the Party as long as there is no conflict of interest and he or she does not benefit monetarily.
Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?
Primaries should definitely be CLOSED to protect the quality of candidates selected. Voters who are not aligned with Republicans should not be allowed to sabotage the vote by picking a weak opposition candidate.
Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?
To have a more cohesive party that can get Republican priorities accomplished, it would be better if the Precinct County Chairs elected their own Chairman.
There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.
I know that there is some talk about raising the retirement age for Social Security & Medicare. While I haven't yet done a deep dive on the details, I would entertain more information on a proposal if it were to save Social Security and Medicare for future generations. However, it would have to be done in a gradual age approach and certainly not at the time people are already planning to retire.
What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?
Dade Phelan has made a mockery of Republicans and does not represent the Republican voter. He needs to resign or be voted out in the next election as he slow-walked Republican priorities and did not get them pushed through the House. He consistently appointed Democrats to key committee chair positions and supported the quick impeachment process of Ken Paxton.
