I am a Conservative Christian, empty nester mom of two grown children, and a woman in the workforce.   Although I have always voted, I never used to follow politics on a granular level.   However, in the last few years, I follow all of the politics because I have become extremely concerned about the direction of our country (economically, morally and spiritually).  I have also come to understand the need to work at the local level to do my part for change.   I have since supported the Republican party with get out the vote efforts and have trained as an election clerk.

Questionnaire

General

What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?

-

This is a Republican primary race.  Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

Yes, I promise to support and abide by the Republican Party Platform.

Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.

A true conservative is patriotic, and supports our country and the ideals and principles our country was founded upon.   As a conservative I support our Constitution and Bill of Rights, along with limited government, free markets and a fair rule of law.

Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?

Yes, I am willing to make time to attend meetings, training sessions, block walking and get out the vote activities.

Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"

No, I do not support PACS using the Republican brand name to convince voters that they are the true opinion of the Republican party.  This is a deceptive practice because many people who vote Republican do not know the difference.

What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1.        Republican
2.        Grassroots
3.        Conservative
4.        Tea Party

Grassroots conservative, but I like all four.

How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)

Precinct chairs should be well versed in all parts of the election so they can recruit others to help.   Every part of the election process is vital:   campaigning in the parking lot on election day, block walking, get out the vote activities as well as the election judge and clerk activities.   The election process from start to finish is our main job.

Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?

I support the Steering Committee leadership model because it provides an organization with a strong foundation of guidance, strategic planning and oversight.  The Steering Committee has an advantage in that it has a cross-section of individuals who can better represent the whole party.

Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?

I do believe that participating in at least one committee is beneficial, but I also support people who choose to volunteer as an extra pair of hands across multiple party needs.

Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?

Yes, the GOP chair should use their visible presence in the community to fundraise for the Party as long as there is no conflict of interest and he or she does not benefit monetarily.

Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?

Primaries should definitely be CLOSED to protect the quality of candidates selected.  Voters who are not aligned with Republicans should not be allowed to sabotage the vote by picking a weak opposition candidate.

Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?

To have a more cohesive party that can get Republican priorities accomplished, it would be better if the Precinct County Chairs elected their own Chairman.

There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.

I know that there is some talk about raising the retirement age for Social Security & Medicare.   While I haven't yet done a deep dive on the details, I would entertain more information on a proposal if it were to save Social Security and Medicare for future generations.  However, it would have to be done in a gradual age approach  and certainly not at the time people are already planning to retire.

What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?

Dade Phelan has made a mockery of Republicans and does not represent the Republican voter.   He needs to resign or be voted out in the next election as he slow-walked Republican priorities and did not get them pushed through the House.   He consistently appointed Democrats to key committee chair positions and supported the quick impeachment process of Ken Paxton.

Budget

Would you support legislative action to establish a salary framework (possibly related to the Gov. salary) for all taxpayer funded employees with a stipulation that elected officials be required to get voter approval to exceed that framework for their own salaries?

Much like the military, a standardized salary framework may be a good solution to help reign in our ever growing government, but I think legislators should absolutely not be able to vote in their own raises without the approval of the voter.   They should also be held to the same standards of insider trading as the corporate world.

Education

Do you support or oppose social programs in our schools (like C-Scope, Common Core, CRT, International Baccalaureate, SEL, etc.)? Why or why not?

Schools should focus on reading, writing, arithmetic, science, history, life skills and patriotism.  Our country would be in a better position if our schools supported the teaching of patriotism and removed the socialist programs that have flooded our school curriculum.    The problem with these programs is that there is subjective information taught that supports a left leaning ideology.

Ethics

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcys?

No.

Do you agree with precinct chairs involvement in republican primaries? Why or why not?

I believe that life is a gift that starts at conception, but I am also grateful for each state that has at the very least moved to a heartbeat law.  I support providing more pro-life services and resources to women.

Should the county GOP chair be involved in any other political organizations, including PAC's, while serving a term as the chairman? Why or why not?

No, I don't think they should be involved in other political organizations or PACs so as to avoid conflicts of interest.

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, sign of heartbeat, 3 months of pregnancy, birth, 5 days old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

I believe that life is a gift that starts at conception, but I am also grateful for each state that has at the very least moved to a heartbeat law.  I support providing more pro-life services and support to women.

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

  1. Elect a conservative president whose priority is to control the border.
  2. Stop financial support, housing and other incentives to illegal aliens which would discourage others from coming
  3. Appoint individuals who will truly enforce the immigration laws and fire those individuals who do not.
  4. Close the border and build the wall.
  5. Re-institute the remain in Mexico policy.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

Being a conservative means patriotically holding fast to our Constitution and freedoms in our Bill of Rights.   I support limited government, fair markets, a fair rule of law for all and a whole lot of common sense.

List 3 changes that should be made to how elections are conducted in Montgomery County.

1.   Use watermarked paper ballots.

2..  Shorten the early voting period.

3.   Promote poll watching.   I did not see poll watchers at our latest election when I voted.

Do you support current RPT chair Matt Rinaldi in full and if not, what do you disagree with?

I do not know enough about Matt Rinaldi to make a qualified judgment.
