What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?
My opponent has not voted in any of the past four Republican Primaries which is one of the requirements for becoming a precinct chairman.
This is a Republican primary race. Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.
Yes, I promise to abide by the Republican Party Platform.
Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.
It is one who adheres to traditional methods or views, a cautious or discreet person. As an American Conservative I believe in adhering to the Judeo-christian values that this country was founded upon. It means that you promote and defend policies to preserve the values that are the foundation of our Christian Nation. Protect and defend the United States Constitution as it was originally written and understood by our Founding Fathers. A conservative also protects and defends our God given freedoms that are enumerated in the Bill of Rights. Conservatives stand on the principles of limited government, free market capitalism, and the rule of law being applied evenly to all Americans.
Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?
Yes, currently I am the Precinct 87 Chairman, a Member-at-Large on the Steering Committee, and the Rules Committee Chairman for MCRP. I have participated in all of CEC meetings this Biennium, attended training sessions and block walked.
Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"
No, the Republican name should never by a Club or PAC in their Name to deceive voters into thinking their endorsement of a candidate is that of the Republican Party. The Republican Party is prohibited from endorsing candidates in the republican primary.
What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1. Republican
2. Grassroots
3. Conservative
4. Tea Party
2. Grassroots
How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)
If the Precinct chair has an interest in being an election judge, they can, but they still have the responsibility to find a representative to represent them in the parking lot on Election Day to connect with voters.
Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?
I support the Steering committee type of leadership. The Party is governed by the People and so should the CEC.
Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?
Yes
Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?
Yes, fundraising for the party is one of the main task a County Chairman is involved in this position.
Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?
Closed, to prevent the democrats or other parties from voting in the Republican party primary to influence the candidate for the party going into the General election.
Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?
GOP County Chair should be selected by the elected County Executive Committee. This would be the same method that the State Chairman of the Party is currently selected.
There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.
The only change that i support without any details on what the specific "major revision" that might be proposed is not a change to the platform itself. It would be for the party to actually support many of the planks that are existing with actual actions. Like an effort to remove the party from Texas Election Code, take the appropriate actions to allow the CEC to elected their own county chairs, move to closed primaries. The Party needs to support its own platform.
What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?
Dade Phelan should resign or be replaced in the next election cycle. There should be an immediate invetigation of his apparent drunkenness while conducting House business which is egregious. He has been a horrible Speaker for the Texas House of Representatives from failing to pass most of the Republican priorities to launching a rushed Impeachment of our Conservative Attorney General Ken Paxton, appointing Democrat Representatives to be Committee Chairs, and the list goes on.
