Questionnaire

General

What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?

I don't know my opponent

This is a Republican primary race.  Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.

Yes

Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.

"Conservative" to me means staying true to the Founders' intent of limited government and honoring the God-given rights of the people as identified in our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?

Yes. It will be my responsibility to keep my neighbors informed of current local Republican issues and attending meetings and trainings will help facilitate that.

Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"

No. Just because a group is labeled "Republican" does not necessarily mean that they hold to the platform. Deception is rampant out there.

What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1.        Republican
2.        Grassroots
3.        Conservative
4.        Tea Party

3. Conservative. Conservative encompasses all the others as well.

How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)

I think the precinct chair can fill the position of election judge or where needed. There are many needs at the local level. The precinct chair is the party's connection to our neighbors, making them aware of what's going on and encouraging involvement.

Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?

I've not experienced either, but it seems to me that a steering committee would allow more than one voice and opinion to be considered.

Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?

If they are able, sure, but I don't think it should be required. I think it would depend on someone's availability, as we are all volunteers.

Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?

Yes. The county GOP chair, as local representation of the party, can encourage residents to give and help further the party's agenda and help get out the vote.

Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?

Closed. There's no reason for them to be open. Voters have already decided where they stand and should not be allowed to crossover and influence or effect other party's outcomes.

Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?

The GOP County Chair should be selected by the County Executive Committee as the Committee will be the most familiar with those seeking the position, based on current and previous participation in the county party.

There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.

No revisions.

What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?

The majority Republican House of Representatives should appoint a true Republican to the position. He's not one.

Budget

Would you support legislative action to establish a salary framework (possibly related to the Gov. salary) for all taxpayer funded employees with a stipulation that elected officials be required to get voter approval to exceed that framework for their own salaries?

Yes! Tired of legislators choosing their own salaries. It's time for the hard working taxpayers to decide.

Education

Do you support or oppose social programs in our schools (like C-Scope, Common Core, CRT, International Baccalaureate, SEL, etc.)? Why or why not?

No! These social programs are liberal agendas that have poor outcomes that leave destruction in their wake and ruin our society.

Ethics

Is there anything in your background of an embarrassing nature that should be explained before your election? Arrests/Convictions? Bankruptcys?

No.

Do you agree with precinct chairs involvement in republican primaries? Why or why not?

Yes! I think their involvement is crucial to getting out the vote and helping make constituents aware of the candidates and the issues effecting them locally. Most people lead very busy lives and appreciate having a local resource with information on elections. I've had people thank me for voting dates, times, and info on sample ballots online.

Should the county GOP chair be involved in any other political organizations, including PAC's, while serving a term as the chairman? Why or why not?

Because "involvement" is a loose term, my answer is no. There's too much room for interpretation of this word to blur the lines of what's appropriate and what's not.

At what point should the "right to life" or "personhood" be granted to new human beings (e.g., at conception, sign of heartbeat, 3 months of pregnancy, birth, 5 days old, etc)? What action, if any, will you take to reflect this in law?

New life begins at conception when two cells form a unique individual, worthy of value, and all the God-given rights of every other individual, regardless of age or stage of life. Period. No law should be passed or even considered if it violates this premise.

Immigration

What, if anything, should be done to protect our borders from illegal immigration?

Build a wall. Finish the wall. Send illegal trespassers back to their home country. Stop letting them in and giving them all the perks we give to those legally entering our country.

Other

What does being a conservative mean to you?

"Conservative" means to preserve the founding ideals of the country, clearly articulated by the Founding Fathers in their writings, as well as The Constitution and The Bill of Rights. Limited government and personal responsibility identified as foundational to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, honoring the Creator, the One who has endowed these rights upon us.

List 3 changes that should be made to how elections are conducted in Montgomery County.

Just two presently:

1. No mail in ballots

2. Some way to check that ballots reported are being reported accurately.

Do you support current RPT chair Matt Rinaldi in full and if not, what do you disagree with?

I don't know him. Don't currently have an opinion.
