What 2 things about your opponent do the voters need to know?
I would rather speak about my qualifications and my goals for this position than speak about others.
This is a Republican primary race. Do you promise, if elected, to abide by the RPT platform? And if not, please enumerate what problems you have.
Yes.
Define what the word "Conservative" means to you.
Enforcement of the US and Texas Constitutions interpreted as they are written, at the time they were written.
Small, limited government operating within the strict boundaries of the Constitution.
Sovereignty of the United States and Texas protected through secure borders and states’ rights preservation.
Fierce protection of all individual liberties secured by the Constitutions whether enumerated or unenumerated.
Fiscal responsibility of government through balanced budgets and only funding programs for the protection of American citizens and our rights. Put an end to the indentured servitude of the American people through gross abuse of welfare and foreign aid.
End the endless foreign wars. Our military should be protecting the homeland, not policing the world.
Are you willing to put in the time necessary to attend CEC meetings, additional committee meetings, training sessions, blockwalking, etc?
Yes
Do you think the 'Republican' brand should be used by PACs in their names that may deceive voters? Why or why not?"
No, it’s a conflict of interest. They can say they are conservative, or any other principle that describes them but to use the word Republican indicates that they are endorsed by the party which nullifies the party’s right to freedom of association.
What best describes your political ideology most(circle only one).
1. Republican
2. Grassroots
3. Conservative
4. Tea Party
I am a constitutionalist. I am all of the above, but the political ideology that most describes me is constitutionalist.
How do you believe precinct chairs should be involved in elections? (election judge, clerk, none?)
Republican Party precinct chairs have a duty to their constituents to uphold the principles of the Republican party and that includes upholding the Republican form of government guaranteed to us in the Constitution. Therefore, it is our duty to protect the elections that protect our republic. We should be working with election officials to ensure security and transparency in our election process and that election laws are being strictly followed. Precinct Chairs should be involved in every aspect of their precinct’s election. They can do that by working at the polls themselves or by recruiting qualified and honest constituents to fill those positions.
Do you like the Steering Committee style of leadership currently in place or that of just a county chairman?
The Steering Committee is the correct style, decentralized power is the construct of government most conducive to liberty.
Do you beieve that the county chair/precinct chairs should actively participate in at least one committee?
Yes. All should participate in at least one committee. The more people that participate in the political process, the more decentralized government will be.
Should the county GOP chair be involved with fundraising? Why or why not?
Absolutely. The county chair is the face of the county party. One of their main jobs should be to participate in fundraising activities.
Should party primaries be "open" or "closed" & why?
Closed. Allowing nonmembers of a party to participate in a party primary destroys the constitutionally protected right of all party members to freedom of association.
Should the GOP County Chair be selected by the elected County Executive Committee, or in the Open primaries where Democrats can cross over for more moderate candidates?
I believe the County Chair should be elected by the County Executive Committee but ultimately it is up to all the members of the state party to decide how the party should be structured.
There's discussion about making major revisions to the RPT Platform. Please describe the nature of any major changes you support.
I’m not sure what is meant by major changes. I don’t know that there are any major changes I would make to the platform. That being said, I do wish that the party would put more effort and emphasis into certain parts of the platform such as securing our elections through instituting penalties for election officials that knowingly or grossly violate election law, passing school choice legislation, securing the Texas border, and censuring Republican candidates that vote against the platform.
What's your position on Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan?
Dade Phelan has got to go! But what really needs to happen is that we need a state legislature that is willing to have the courage to diminish the power the house speaker has. No one person should have the power to unilaterally derail the will of the people though our representatives. Why bother having a legislature if the speaker dictates policy? Does that not nullify through subversion tactics the people’s right to a representative government? Justice Gorsuch said this best during oral arguments in In SEC vs. Jarkesy by saying “We don’t usually say that the government can avoid a constitutional mandate merely by relabeling or moving things around. It is as much a violation to do something indirectly as directly.” Isn’t that exactly what our legislature has done? Indirectly nullified our right to a representative government by giving their power away to the speaker of the house?
