declared

I have been a proud resident of Montgomery County for fifteen years, with my three children benefiting from thirteen years of education within CISD schools. My passion lies in ensuring every student has access to the resources they need to thrive. I am deeply committed to empowering struggling readers, and creating an educational environment where all students succeed.

Throughout my advocacy journey, I have focused on supporting our most vulnerable student populations. I founded a local dyslexia network and played a pivotal role in passing The Beckley Wilson Act, one of the most comprehensive dyslexia laws in the nation, during the 87th and 88th legislatures. My volunteer work includes serving as the PTO parlimentarian at Bush Elementary, room mom at Coulson Tough, crisis preganancy volunteer at PACN, and contributing to various roles within our church.

Professionally, I lead in a results-driven industry, managing multimillion-dollar businesses in the luxury retail sector. My expertise in management complements my educational advocacy, particularly in focusing on the health and wellbeing of our special education students, who represent 12% of our CISD population.

With a rich history of community engagement and a steadfast dedication to educational excellence, I am committed to bringing positive change and ensuring every student in our district has the opportunity to succeed.

Questionnaire

General

Why are you running for this position?  What are the three main attributes that make you the most qualified for this position?

I am running to ensure parents' rights are protected, to restore discipline into our classrooms, to support teachers, and to improve student learning outcomes. I am strategic, results driven, and am a proven leader.

Budget

Conroe ISD projects a $17.72M shortfall for 2024-25 fiscal year. How do you propose to fix it?

In my position as a store manager it is my job to evaluate expenses and revenue. I would do the same process here to ensure that excess spending and administrative costs were cut, making certain everything that remanined would ensure positive educational outcomes. That means supporting teachers and their jobs.

Debt

Did you vote FOR the 2023 $2 Billion CISD School Bond? Why or why not?

No, I did not vote for the two billion dollar bond. Based on how the district has used money in the past, I didn't find it fiscally responsible to support another bond.

Education

In your opinion, what are the three most important roles of the school board and if elected, how would you contribute to those important roles??

It is the board's responsibility to set the vision of the district, and for the superintendent to carry it out according to Texas educational code.

  • Overseeing academic success for all our students.
  • Ensuring student and employee safety.
  • Setting a fiscally responsible budget that supports positive educational outcomes.

I would focus on improving the district discipline policies, which will impact teachers' quality of work environment, and their ability to educate students. This update in policy will allow educators to focus on improving learning outcomes by restoring order to the classrooms.

What are the three biggest challenges facing the board and how would you address these challenges if you are elected to the Board??

Setting strong policies that protect parental rights and that also restore order to the classroom, improving learning outcomes, and making certain there is a responsible use of tax payer money.

How much access do you believe parents should have to their children's curriculum? classroom? teacher? online?

I believe parents should have full and complete access to all curriculum and resources their student is using in school. Parent and teacher communication is important for student academic success.

Do you support allowing all students to use bathrooms, showers and locker rooms, as well as participate in sports, based on the gender with which they identify, not the sex they are assigned to at birth?

No.

Would you, individually, take public, overt steps to have pornography removed from LSC classrooms. libraries and campuses?

Yes.

Do you believe a teacher should be required to use a student’s preferred pronoun?

No.

Would you actively pursuit an annual third party financial audit of the ISD?

Yes.

On May 14th, 2024, the CISD Board adopted new bylaws for the School Health Advisory Council(SHAC), consisting of 21 members(2 by each board member & 7 by the superindent) while removing public comment at their meetings. What are your thoughts about this?

These actions diminshed the parent voice on the SHAC. As a trustee I will continue to stand up for parents' voices to be heard.

What is your position on implementing a gender fluidity policy to remove all gender subject matter books & materials from CISD?

I am against all gender confusion topics in our books and materials, and will enforce the Texas State Librabry Archive Commission standards.

Should CISD have LGBTQ+ books in their libraries and classroom libraries? If so, why? If not, why not?

As a trustee I will ensure we follow the state laws, and will make sure no sexually explicit and/or vulgar materials are in our schools. Books should be age appropriate.

What's your opinion of programs such as Common Core curriculum? Critical Race Theory? Social Emotional Learning? International Bacculaureate?

There is no place for common core, CRT, SEL, or International Baccaalaureate in our schools. Or any other indictrinating content.

Will you work to remove harmful materials as defined in Texas penal code 43.24 from all school property? Additionally, do you support removing the “educational exemption” from this law?

Yes and yes.

Do you believe that parents should be allowed to monitor classrooms in person or cameras?

I believe parents rights are paramount, and I will ensure transparency.

Would you pledge to vote against any attempt to authorize any CISD employee salary that would be more than 50% above that of the Texas Governors salary?

I will always prioritize educational expenditures and teachers.

What role does the Superintendent play at Board meeting?

The superintendent should be there to provide operational information truthfully.

Do you support HB1605? If so, why? If not, why not?

Yes. I like the classical content of HB 1605.The classical approach to learning is a proven methodology of teaching, and will improve learning outcomes. That said, we've got to get kids away from screens. Children need pencil and paper.

How do you think HB1605 screen time policy of 4 hrs/day affects children?

HB 1605 does not require four hours of screen time. The bill states that the content must be available to kids for a minimum of four hours a day. Further, districts can print the material. As a parent, I am well aware of the challenges we face with the amount of screen time for children. I believe the old fashioned pencil, paper, and book are best.

Would you support a motion to inventory the books contained in classroom libraries & post on website?

Yes.

What is your understanding of the Pico case?

SCOTUS said it infringed on First Amendment rights, but the board can limit vulgarity/sexually explicit content.

Would you vote to implement Biden's Title IX changes?

No, and the board should adopt policy against it.

Has this board done its job in providing a platform of educating students with critical thinking skills instead of critical race theory? Please explain.

I have not heard the board discuss CRT this year. I support students utilizing their critical thinking skills to come to conclusions on theor own.

Do you believe the Bible should be returned to the public school library? How would you implement that?

The Bible is in our public school libraries. As a trustee I would ensure the Bible stays in our libraries.
